Every year, more than fifty reports dealing with Africa and Africans are produced and disseminated, most often by non-Africans or by experts who, very often, are not concerned with reflecting the realities experienced by Africans, nor with tracing the paths to greater sovereignty of African countries and societies. Most of the time, these reports have difficulty deciphering the real changes and transformations taking place in Africa or defining the continent’s real priorities in a forward-looking vision. In order to correct this lack of a report produced for Africa and by Africa, and to get out of ideological and scientific obsolescence, renowned African research institutions and think tanks such as Enda Tiers Monde, Rosa Luxembourg Foundation, Council for the Development of Social Science Research (CODESRIA), Third World Forum (FTM), TRUSTAFRICA, International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) African Futures Institute (AFI), African Women’s Association for Research and Development (AWARD), Legacy Africa, Pan African Institute for Development/West Africa and Sahel (PIDA-WAS), West African Think Tank (WATHI), Alliance for Rebuilding Governance in Africa (ARGA), African Governance Institute (AGI), Institute for Prospective Agriculture and Rural Development (IPAR), etc. , intellectuals, civil society actors and African entrepreneurs have felt the urgent need to produce, on a regular basis, an ALTERNATIVE REPORT ON AFRICA called RASA. The RASA is intended to be an instrument to regain the intellectual and political sovereignty of the continent and to measure the progress and innovations of African societies: in short, a report on Africa for Africa and by Africa.
